Overview
ClearDebt helps you plan and track your debts. We keep things private by design: the app stores your financial entries on your device. This website does not use third-party trackers.
What we collect
- In-app data you enter (debts, payments, notes) is stored locally on your device. If you enable optional features like backup/sync (when available), we’ll clearly explain the service and what it stores.
- Purchases & subscriptions: to verify entitlements and prevent fraud, we may process purchase identifiers provided by Apple and/or our subscription partner(s), which can include purchase/transaction IDs, anonymized user or device IDs, approximate location, device model, OS version, and related metadata.
- Analytics (usage events, app versions, coarse device info) to understand what features are used and improve the product.
- Crash reports (stack traces, device/OS context) to diagnose and fix stability issues.
- Ads (if enabled): ad networks may receive device and contextual signals required to serve and measure ads. We avoid collecting more than is necessary for this.
- Website: standard server logs (IP, user-agent) retained briefly for security/abuse prevention.
How we use data
- Operate the app and verify purchases/subscriptions.
- Improve features, performance, and reliability (analytics and crash reports).
- Show and measure ads (if enabled in the app).
- Communicate important updates or critical notices.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce terms.
Legal bases (UK/EU users)
- Contract: providing the app and processing purchases/subscriptions.
- Legitimate interests: improving the app (analytics/crash), preventing fraud/abuse.
- Consent: where required for ads or analytics; you can change this in settings (when available).
Sharing
We don’t sell your personal information. We share limited data with: (i) vendors that help us run the app (e.g., subscription processing, analytics, crash reporting, ads), (ii) authorities if required by law, and (iii) in a merger or acquisition, as permitted by law. Vendors are required to process data only on our instructions and with appropriate safeguards.
Retention
- On-device app data remains until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- Purchase/entitlement records are kept as long as needed to provide access and meet legal/accounting obligations.
- Analytics and crash logs are retained for limited periods appropriate to diagnostics and trend analysis.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards and minimize what we collect. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so please keep your device protected (e.g., passcode/biometrics).
Your choices & rights
- Export or delete your on-device data (feature roadmap). Deleting the app removes locally stored data.
- Control analytics/crash/ads preferences in app settings (as available) or via iOS system settings.
- UK/EU users: you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to data portability.
- California users: you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA; we do not sell personal information.
Children
ClearDebt is not directed to children under 16 and should not be used by them.
International transfers
Where data is transferred outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g., standard contractual clauses).
Changes
If we materially change this Policy, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in-app or on the website.
